Case Study 1. Relocating family with same-sex parents

The fictitious LaPorte family comprises a married, middle-income, dual-income, mixed race, lesbian couple both of who are nurses in their early 40s with two young children, one who’s attends a public elementary school and the other who attends a private preschool. They live in a 4-bedroom 3-bathroom home with a two-car garage for which they have a mortgage in the greater Austin, TX area and own one of the cars, 7 years old, and have a loan for the other car, which is 3 years old.

The family is considering relocating because of the possible the U. S. Supreme Court overturning of Obergefell v. Hodges decision. They have narrowed down their list to the following three states: Iowa, New Mexico and Washington.

You have been hired by your employer to help them make their relocation decision by researching the quality of life and cost of living within cities, at least one from each state, in these three states. They are looking to find a new location that more closely mirrors their current lifestyle in Austin, TX. You’ve been asked to consider the following factors/qualities and costs: housing, including utilities, air and water quality, food, safety, auto and homeowner’s insurance, race/ethnicities, local laws about animals, schools, healthcare availability and affordability, public works (libraries, entertainment, recreation facilities, multi-purpose trails, etc.) and transportation infrastructure, including roads, traffic, and commute time) and social services, places of worship, household income, state and local taxes (city and county and fuel), shopping centers, including grocery stores.

In the requested written report include a narrative about each city, including their current one, a comparative analysis with a chart, your recommendation, and highly credible and trusted sources of information/references.
