Case Study 5: Divorcing Gay Couple

In the fictitious Lin family, after 10 years of being together, 5 years as a legally married, the primary wage earner of a gay Asian, single income, upper middle-income couple, wants a divorce (plaintiff) and has asked his spouse (defendant) to move out of the house in Florida now that the defendant has finished his MFA degree.

You have been hired by the defendant to help him figure out his new financial situation. Based on your research, what assets and resources should he expect to be awarded, including, but not limited to, spousal support (maintenance) and custody and monthly pet support for their French Bulldog named Eiffel, that was gifted to your client by the plaintiff. How much money does he need in order to live a middle-class lifestyle comfortably?

Based on your research, in the requested written report, include a comparative financial analysis table with factors such as housing, including utilities, auto and homeowner’s insurance, healthcare, state and local taxes (city and county and fuel), your findings, and highly credible and trusted sources of information/ references.
