Teaching Camp 2024
Welcome to Teaching Camp 2024!
This section of the text was designed for the University of Arkansas’s Teaching and Faculty Support Center’s Teaching Camp 2024. It is both a presentation and a stand alone resource, as we’ve designed it so that if you weren’t able to attend the presentation, you can still glean most of the information we shared. It also works as a resource session attendees can revisit to share the information with colleagues or brush up on the content covered during our presentation.
Open Educational Resources (OER) are freely accessible, openly licensed materials that can increase engagement and learning by promoting collaboration and inclusivity. Beyond cost savings, OER empowers educators to tailor their educational materials to their course’s learning objectives and student needs. Open Education Librarian Christine Rickabaugh will share some exciting opportunities you have on campus to create your own or remix resources for your courses. She will also share some recent OER publications and their use in classrooms across campus. ENCLOTHE is one of the most recent OER publications, deployed in Spring 2024. Sarah West Hixson will share her OER journey, including lessons learned from creating accessible educational materials and student reactions to interactive content known as H5P.
This session will include a hands-on H5P workshop, equipping participants to create their own interactive learning materials. H5P is openly licensed software that that can be embedded in an open textbook or straight into Blackboard Ultra. Bring your laptop or tablet and join us in creating an exciting, easy, and impressive piece of content you can implement in your Fall courses while learning more about OER!
Enjoy!
