Unit 4 Introduction

Ashleigh Severson

Welcome to Unit 4: Make an Argument, where we will delve into the art of constructing persuasive arguments in preparation for the “Make an Argument” assignment. In this unit, we will harness the power of rhetoric and critical thinking to craft compelling arguments that advocate for change, challenge, assumptions, or provoke thought about your chosen community. Building upon the insights and experiences gained from the previous on narrative and storytelling, we now turn to our focus to persuasion, where words become tools for advocacy and influence.

To guide you through the process of crafting your argument, we have organized this unit into five chapters, each addressing key elements necessary for the development of a strong, persuasive, and successful argument.
